Strange Tales from the Arabian Nights is a collection of six of the 1001 stories that the fabled Shahrazad narrated to keep King Shahriyar curious and prevent him from ordering her execution. This collection of stories is unique in that it doesnt include the usual, oft-narrated tales of Aladdin, Sindbad or Ali Baba. These stories would be new to most students, and as interesting and strange as their better-known counterparts. The stories of the Arabian Nights have been compiled over hundreds of years by various people. It is believed that they were first written/narrated around AD 800-900. Although there are many variations in the several versions of the collection, the main plot of the story of Shahrazad and King Shahriyar is common to them all.
