Summary Of The Book

Harrison's Principles Of Internal Medicine, first published in 1950, is considered to be one of the most authoritative texts on the subject of internal medicine. It has been used across the world by both students and physicians. Each edition adds to the compilation of information on various diseases and their treatments.

This edition of Harrison's Principles Of Internal Medicine is one of the most radically revised editions of the book. With colorful illustrations incorporated into the relevant chapters and with several new sections, this book forms an extensive repository of information.
There are a total of eighteen parts and they provide a thorough coverage of various medical conditions, cardinal signs, manifestations of disease, pathobiology, and the best approach to patient care.

Some of the chapters included are Introduction to Clinical Medicine, Cardinal Manifestations and Presentation of Disease, Nutrition, Regenerative Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Genetics and Disease, Oncology, and Hematology. Harrison's Principles Of Internal Medicine then covers Bioterrorism and Clinical Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Respiratory Disorders, and Disorders of the Gastrointestinal System.

Subsequent chapters include Disorders of the Immune System, Connective Tissue and Joints, Neurological Disorders, Poisoning, Envenomation, and Drug Overdose. E-chapters from international advisory editors have also been included. The accompanying DVD contains several additional e-chapters, a collection of almost all the images included in the main text, and several video clips that expand on the information covered in the book. Several questions and exercises that reflect the type of questions asked in medical exams have also been presented.

Harrison's Principles Of Internal Medicine is considered a great resource for students preparing for their internal medicine exam. It also serves as extensive reference material for practicing internists.
