Corporate Atyaachaar: The Comical Journey Of An Office Doormat is the story of a subservient employee working for an obnoxious boss, with hilarious results.
Summary Of The Book
Corporate Atyaachaar: The Comical Journey Of An Office Doormat is the comical story of a young, submissive employee trying to fit into the big, bad world of finance.
The story is set in Bangalore, against the backdrop of the phenomenal rise and fall of the stock market during 2007-2008. The protagonist is a 24-year-old guy, fresh off the campus and newly recruited to a corporate firm as a financial advisor. Like most novices starting their first job, he is bustling with high aspirations and energy.
However, on the first day itself, much to his dismay, his boss turns out to be quite an obnoxious, dominating person who keeps him on a tight leash - forcing him to work late, refusing leaves, stealing credit due to him, and so on.
Both the employer and employee have the task of managing the investments of some wealthy clients. During the course of his new job, the latter encounters a variety of clients, and numerous experiences that have nothing to do with the world of finance. He happens to discover that one of his clients creates nude art for the sake of charity while another is fond of hot body massages. His constant subservience to his boss works against him at every turn. However, with a timely nudge, he just might decide to stand up for himself.
An amnesic dancing dog and a missing musical mobile thrown into the mix add to the hilarity of the plot.
The author has deliberately chosen not to name the characters. Instead, he refers to them by using nicknames based on their role in the story. Hence, the plot is marked by characters like Inflated Ego, The Yuppy, and The Slimy Salesman.
Corporate Atyaachaar: The Comical Journey Of An Office Doormat was published in 2010 by Srishti Publishers. It received positive as well as negative reviews.
