About Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou was born in Missouri, United States, in 1928. She was a renowned African-American writer, poet, dancer, singer, actress and author. She was also a film producer, playwright, film director, and civil rights activist among several other things. She was honoured with a Pulitzer Prize for her work Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water 'fore I Diiie. She was nominated for a Tony Award for her role in the play Look Away. She also won three Grammys, the National Medal of Arts and the esteemed Presidential Medal of Freedom.
