Erich Segal was a very reputed writer, educator, and screenwriter.
Apart from this book, he has authored many other books, some of which are A Change Of Seasons, Love Story, and Man, Woman and Child.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York, USA in the year 1937. Segal started his elementary education at Midwood High School in Brooklyn, New York. In the meantime, he used to visit to Switzerland to undertake his summer subjects. After finishing school, he went to Harvard University. From there, he earned a B.A. degree and later went on to obtain an M.A. degree too. Afterwards, he received a Ph.D. degree too. Segal started off his teaching life as a faculty member at Harvard University. But later on, he shifted to Yale University. He had the privilege of being invited as a visiting professor in classics at Princeton University and afterwards at the University of Munich. He received worldwide recognition for his verse translations of Plautus. Segal joined forces with the Harvard Hasty Pudding Club production and went on to produce numerous Hollywood screenplays for renowned movies like A Change of Seasons and Yellow Submarine. He succumbed to a heart attack in the year 2010.
