I Have A Dream is a unique collection of twenty inspirational stories of social entrepreneurs who have found creative solutions for old problems.
Summary Of The Book
I Have A Dream consists of 20 engrossing tales of people who have dedicated their lives for the good of the society. Beginning with the birth and education of these people, their childhood, and the struggles and success of their journey, Rashmi Bansal offers a comprehensive coverage of their lives. Segregated into three sections, the book divides the people into three types, the Rainmakers, the Changemakers and the Spiritual Capitalists.
The first part is dedicated to the Rainmakers. These are the entrepreneurs who earn profits from their work, even though profit is not their sole motive. It has stories like Caste Away, Rags to Riches, Beyond Profit, Weave the People, and Move the Mountains. The second part is dedicated to the Changemakers, who have strived hard to bring about a positive change in others lives. The Scientific Socialist, The Naked Truth, The Art of War, The Girl in the Mirror, Inner Engineering, and Into that Heaven of Freedom are some of the stories in this section.
The third section is titled Spiritual Capitalists and relates to those entrepreneurs who have blended spiritualism with common welfare. It consists of stories like All in the Family, Lead Kindly Light and Soul Food. From India’s first rural BPO to eco-tourism and solar lightings, from Micro-Venture Funding to Sulabh Shauchalayas, the book has stories of prominent personalities like Harish Hande, Dhruv Lakra, Arvind Kejriwal, Shreesh Jadhav, and Bindeshwar Pathak. These people with their big dreams and compelling passion have made a significant difference in the lives of many across India. Bansal, in her wonderful book, pays tribute to these innovative entrepreneurs who continue to inspire many others.
I Have a Dream has won acclaim since its publication in 2011. The book was on the shortlist for The Economist Crossword Popular Award in 2012.
